The Role of the Board

Our Board of Directors plays a key role in our success. The Board provides stewardship and oversight to our credit union on behalf of our members to ensure that we fulfill our mission and purpose.

The Role of our Members

As a Brunswick Credit Union member, you play an active role in shaping the future of our credit union. Members vote on important matters that drive the direction of our credit union, including electing the Board of Directors.

Our Board of Directors is elected from our membership through the Board recruitment and elections process, and our members vote for the leaders responsible for guiding our credit union forward.

  • March 16-March 20, 2026: Confirmation of candidates’ eligibility

Call for Nominations

Brunswick Credit Union is currently seeking skilled and dedicated members to fill open positions on our Board of Directors. This year there are five (5) Director positions available: four (4) positions with a 3-year term and one (1) position with a 2-year term.


Members who are interested in joining the Board should review the Board of Directors Nomination Package to determine the responsibilities and expectations of Directors and confirm their eligibility.

Business and Organization account holders need to fill out a proxy form to identify the individual who will be voting on their behalf for the Brunswick CU Director’s Election and the Annual General Meeting.

How to Vote

You can cast your vote online or by visiting your nearest Brunswick Credit Union branch.

You will need your Member ID (9 Digits) and Date of Birth to vote.

The elected directors will be announced at Brunswick Credit Union’s Annual General Meeting on April 23, 2026.

Our Board looks for a broad range of skills and experience based on an overall combination of many factors including education, work experience, board experience, lived experience and training, as well as behavioural competencies and alignment to our co-operative values. All nominations must be accompanied by a completed Director Nomination & Self-Assessment Form. More information is available in the Board of Directors Nomination Package.

To be eligible and to stand for election as a Director, you must be a member of Brunswick Credit Union for at least one year prior to the date of nomination and your principal residence must be in the geographical region served by Brunswick Credit Union.

All nominations must be accompanied by a completed Director Nomination & Self-Assessment Form, a signed Nominee Declaration Form and two Member Endorsement Forms signed by members in good standing. Directors must be prepared to attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled Board meetings, Committee meetings, and special Board meetings (as required). Meetings are scheduled at various times throughout the year including evenings, daytime, and weekends. A schedule of the 2026-2027 Brunswick CU Board and Committee meetings is included in the Board of Directors Nomination Package.

Yes, new Directors are provided with orientation training to help them understand the structure, key functions and operation of the Board, and their roles and responsibilities. Alongside internal orientation, Directors are expected to complete the Credit Union Director Achievement (CUDA®) Program. Per the Brunswick Credit Union By-Laws, only one vote can be submitted by proxy or by a member on any one matter. 

  • Two (2) or more individuals may jointly hold a membership in the Credit Union but that membership is entitled to only one (1) vote. 
  • If the proxy is also a member in their own right, that person is entitled to cast a second vote on their own behalf.

Voting for the 2026 Board of Directors is open from March 23 to April 10, 2026.

Your Member ID (9 digits) is what you use to sign in for online or mobile banking. On your bank statement you can find it identified as “Account #” (9 digits) on the top right-hand corner.

Voting will be open from Monday, March 23 to Friday, April 10, 2026.

The elected directors will be announced at Brunswick CU’s AGM on April 23, 2026.
