Meet our Board of Directors and the leadership team who guide Brunswick Credit Union to be a member focused financial institution.
Kurt has 15 years of service with Bayview Credit Union and is currently President of the board. He has experience serving on all board committees and was a director with Atlantic Central Association of Credit Unions from 2010-19. Kurt also serves as a Commissioner with the Saint John Transit Authority and coaches Lancaster Minor Basketball. He holds a Master of Arts from Carleton and has completed doctoral studies at the University of Toronto.
Elizabeth has served eight years on the board at Bayview, including time as Board President and Chair of the Audit, Nominating, Credit, and CEO Performance Committees. Her broader community involvement includes roles with Saint John Energy, the NB Association of Continuing Education, and the United Way Cabinet. Elizabeth holds a Master of Education and a BBA from UNB, a Certificate of Proficiency in French, and has completed all levels of the CCUA Director Achievement program.
Jennifer has served as a director for two years at Bayview Credit Union and is currently on the Governance & HR Committee. She has a strong commitment to community service, having knitted for charities as part of the IWK First Steps program. Jennifer is a CUDA Graduate from CCUA, holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and earned a Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism from NBCC.
Brandon Clowater, CPA, served as the Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee at Progressive Credit Union. With four years as a director and part-time member service experience, he has a deep commitment to the Credit Union’s values. Brandon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from UNB and is a continuous learner with CPA New Brunswick. He is passionate about the Credit Union’s role in supporting members and communities.
Monica has served on the board for 20 years, including terms as President, Vice-President, and Secretary. She has chaired the Audit and Credit Committees and participated in all other committees over the years. Monica has completed the evolving directors training program three times and volunteered on the Audit Committee during a required board break. A self-employed mobile bookkeeper, she values contributing to a strong, adaptable credit union and has been part of CEO hires, branch changes, and a successful merger.
David MacQuarrie has over 20 years of service with Advance Savings Credit Union and its predecessor, TriCo. He has experience overseeing credit union amalgamations and serves on the Audit & Risk Committee. David is a CUDA Graduate and holds a Business (Technology/Accounting) certificate from NBCC. With 35+ years in accounting/finance, he’s also an entrepreneur who’s owned and operated three small businesses, and has served as Treasurer for the United Church of Canada.
Frank has six years of service as a director at Bayview Credit Union and is currently Vice Chair and a member of the Member & Community Relations Committee. He is active in multiple cooperatives and has served on the inaugural regional service commission board and local service advisory committee. Additionally, Frank is a firefighter with Millstream Volunteer Fire Service and a Search Manager for Fundy Ground Search and Rescue. He is a CUDA Graduate.
Hazel Howland has 10 years of service as a director with Progressive Credit Union and its predecessor, Capital Credit Union. She is currently on the Audit & Risk Committee. Hazel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UNB, a Certificate in Water Quality & Wastewater Treatment Management from NBCC, and has completed Level A of the CUDA program through CCUA.
John Cushnie has two years of service as a director with Bayview Credit Union and is currently a member of the Member & Community Relations Committee. He is also an active volunteer in the NB arts community, serving on the boards of ArtsLink NB and ARCA, and a founding director of SAFE Sussex, promoting environmental advocacy. John holds a Master of Fine Arts from Western and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD. He has completed Level A of the CUDA program.
Ryan served as a director with Bayview Credit Union for 4 years and is currently on the Governance & HR Committee. He is also actively involved in the rugby community, volunteering as a Match Official and with the Saint John Trojans Rugby Club. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UNB, a Certificate in Water Quality & Wastewater Treatment Management from NBCC, and is a CUDA Graduate.
Nancy brings over 16 years of combined service with Advance Savings Credit Union and its predecessor, Rexton Credit Union. She is currently Chair of the Governance & HR Committee and Secretary for the board. With prior experience in credit union operations, Nancy also served as Administrator of Rexton Lions Nursing Home for 16 years. She is involved in the Rexton Senior Citizen Housing Advisory Committee and has a Bachelor of Business Administration from UNB.
